New Tableware 2025
New tableware ideas sprouting from my sculptural explorations in 2025
My practice is rooted in a quiet, process driven exploration of form, surface, and material. I work primarily in porcelain, drawn to its luminosity, delicacy, and strength. This clay body demands care and discipline, it resists shortcuts and invites close attention. In return, it offers a clarity and subtlety that continues to challenge and reward me as a maker.
Through throwing, handbuilding, extrusion, and slab work, I create functional and sculptural vessels that celebrate both restraint and intimacy. My forms are often pared back, allowing the nuances of glaze, edge, and curve to take precedence. I am particularly interested in the moments where control and unpredictability meet. Where the process leaves a trace that can be seen or felt in the final piece.
At the heart of my current body of work is a desire to reconnect with the expressive potential of ceramics, beyond utility alone. I am exploring new silhouettes, textural details, and responsive glazes that push the material in new directions. This work reflects a deepening of my relationship with porcelain, a growing confidence in form, and a renewed sense of creative risk.
Ceramics for me is an act of grounding; of repetition, stillness, and refinement. It is also a space of play and experimentation. With the support of a new studio and the tools to match my ambition, I aim to bring this duality into sharper focus in the work to come.
